McCalls 6447 - Little Swing Coat

I fell in love with this pattern the second I saw it. The styling (I mean, just look at that little tweed coat!)! The welted arm holes! The pockets! The sweet pleat in the back! Swoon!

Unfortunately, this is McCalls 6446, which was all sold out when patterns were on super sale a couple of weeks ago. I instead settled for 6447, the sad, less loved step-child of 6446.

Now, it's not bad, don't get me wrong. It'll more than do what I want it to, it's just not the pattern I fell in love with. I think I'll add some welted pockets just to sass it up a bit. Either way, I'd only wear either of these patterns while pregnant. I like my coats to be more tailored and fitted under normal circumstances.

I scored this basic beige twill for $3.50 a yard on clearance. I also really, really want another one out of a navy blue wool-esque fabric (because let's be honest, ain't no way I'm popping full price for wool that'll only be worn for one winter). I'm trying to decide if the basic wooden buttons I have in my stash will work for this coat so I don't have to spend any more money on it...

I'm thinking this should be an easy pattern to knock out. I just hope it's not fug. Fingers crossed!
