One of the gals in the OCMQG gave me this fabric because she didn't have a use for it. She figured because of its light weight and vibrant colors, I could use it for some garments. So I made some layered, color blocked skirts for my daughter!
All the pieces she gave me were 45" wide. Super easy to whip up, I just cut one piece 12" x 45", the next 10" x 45", and the next 8" x 45". I used my rolled hem foot to hem these (you could also just do a narrow hem), stitched the sides up, basted them all together along the top, and attached them to some wide elastic. I made her a blue one -- She wore it for picture day! My heart melted! -- and a pink one. Unfortunately, since I made the blue one at night, I didn't get a great picture of it, but you get the idea.
The pink one was made because she had this pink skirt that seriously was not made to stand up to the wear and tear (no pun intended) of a child's abuse.
I reused the shorts and elastic from the destroyed skirt and made this.
I love them both and she actually wears them. Love, love. :)
xoxo,
