Kitchen DIY - Tin Pan Alley

I love this picture. Love it, love it.

It feels homey and antique, but not in a heavy-handed kind of a way. It just seems organic. I dunno. I think I'm using fancy words to say that I think it's just swell.

I figured I could do the same for not a lot of money, so I hit up my local thrift stores. $15 later, and I have this:

My kitchen has a huge vaulted ceiling. At its height I think it reaches 13 feet, so I have a ton of wall space. This will come in handy in a few years when we redo the kitchen, but I wanted it to be used now so it wouldn't feel like a huge, sad cave. This Tin Pan Alley really added some charm. :)

Here are some other angles, but you'll have to excuse the Halloween decor and horrible 1980's era saloon/brothel inspired chandelier (which was also replaced with another fun DIY I'll tell you about later this week).

This coffee pot, which I love, but need to photograph on its own so you can see it in all its glory, was the most expensive item at a whopping $4. I think there's some Swedish writing on the bottom, but don't know for sure. I'd love to translate it!

All the rest were items I had on hand, or cost a dollar or less. I love the little clock on this shelf below. The blue and green of the glass items beside it are picked up here and there in the rest of the kitchen, and will be moreso as I finish decorating. I am so in love with those colors right now!

I just hammered the tin items into the wall. I had laid them out on the kitchen floor to get a layout that I liked and just went to town. No measuring or anything. Super fun project for not a lot of time or money. :)
