You know
Pinterest, right? Of course you do. I've found all kinds of lovely inspiration for my home from there, and have housed it on my
boards. My nesting is in high gear, so I've been doing all kinds of DIY projects. I have to say I'm super pleased with all of them, and for the most part they are high-impact with low-cost!! :) I have three other posts to show this week alone, all for stuff I did to my kitchen!
The most basic DIY was this swag curtain over Veronica's bed. All we did was take three of those
Alvine Spetz net curtains from Ikea (two packages), sewed them end to end, and hung them on three 1" dowels we screwed into the walls. So lovely and I think this rang it at about $25. Plus we still have one random curtain left over that we can use for whatever.
I've got more plans for her room too. I want to paint this bookcase with
this product (also found via Pinterest).
And I want to hang some floating shelves to house her Collection.
She speaks of her Collection very reverently, so I feel that the capitalization is appropriate. :) My mom got her all of those figurines, and Veronica just loves getting them in the mail (mom lives in Texas - boo).
I made this little chore chart. It's in a frame, and she checks off the items every day. We use a dry erase marker and wipe it off after she's filled it in completely. When it's all full she gets her allowance - $5 every two weeks.
I love this mirror, but I'm not sure if I want to paint it. I kinda like the gold though...
Oh, and we have a chandelier to hang. I'll show more progress as we go along. :)
xoxo,
Oh, and for those of you wondering, the neighbor was a total lovely man. He actually was sick of the dog too and had been contemplating getting rid of it. He said I helped him make up his mind and now he's getting rid of the dog. I swear, if I thought I wouldn't freak him out, I would have planted a huge kiss on his face.
