Think Pink Contest Entry

Totally thought I posted about this, but I didn't... This was my entry for Pattern Review's Think Pink contest (which you should totally check out and vote if you haven't). There are, as always, some totally beautiful creations. Mine is middle of the road for sure, but it was a good excuse to get my booty in gear and make something. Plus, all entrants won a free pattern from Studio Cherie's Etsy shop, and I can't pass up something free. Especially when it's free and awesome, which Studio Cherie totally is! I got this pattern that I've had in my favorites for about two years now.

Anywhoodle, I made this dress.

I like it, but I don't love it. I have to make changes to the hem (it's a little too long in the front to compensate for The Belly and I don't think it'll ever truly lay straight unless I re-hem it). I think I'll also make an empire waist with some elastic thread so that it'll stay in place. The slip I wear underneath makes the garment awfully shifty and I find myself pulling the dress here and there every single time I get up.

I made a FrankenPattern again (I took different pieces from different patterns to make one, new pattern). I do this all the time to get the look I want because I rarely find a simple dress that has all the details I like.

I used the out of print Vogue 2391 for the body of the dress, but took the neckline from Simplicity 2403 (view B) because I love that neckline and why fix it if it ain't broke, amiright??

I then added sleeves because pregnancy gives me backne and apparently upper-arm acne. Jealous? I used the little poofy sleeves from View A (top dress, second from the left).

Easy peasy, George & Weezy. I have plans to get another FrankenPattern dress done this weekend so that I have it for Thanksgiving. I am taking all next week off since it's my birthday week and I need a vacation. Like nobody's business (tune in at the 47 second mark).

xoxo,
